2009 Elberton Idol Auditions-Last week in September! 2009 Elberton Idol??? It's coming up, are you ready? The past two years we have held Idol auditions at Whitney's and the turn out of talent is unreal! Who knew SO many singers would show up and blow us all away with their amazing talent! The contestants were judged in three categories for an overall score by individual judges. Those will be 1. Vocal Ability/Talent 2. Stage Presence/Charisma 3. Crowd response Our 2007 winner, Brandi Saxon was a guest judge at the finals at the fair. She knows all too well what it took to get on that big stage and sing to win!

2007 Top Six Finalists/WSGC The Rules * The contest is open to all ages *You may provide your own music *Contestants will be judged in three categories for an overall score *Contestants will be notified if they move on to the semi-finals on Monday, September 29th on the radio and contacted by phone. *20 people will be selected to move on to the semi-finals which will be held Tuesday, October 7th at the Elberton 12 County Fair. *You must provide your own performance track/music for the fairground. *You must perform without the use of a karaoke prompter, from memory from the semi-finals on. *Those who make it to the final competition will compete on the mainstage at the fair on the final Saturday evening, where there will be ONE winner. *Decisions of the judges are final. *Immediate preceding year's winner cannot compete but will be asked to be a guest judge at the fair! For example Brandi Saxon won 2007 and did not compete 2008 but judged finals; previous winners are allowed to compete as long as they skip the year immediately following their win. This gives everyone a chance at the title! There was a fantastic turn-out for Elberton Idol Auditions this year held at Whitney’s Karaoke Café. Everyone was terrific and the judges had a hard time deciding on just 20 to move on to the competition at the fair. It was narrowed down to six and then the final two of Ashley Strickland from Martin, Georgia and Todd Kirby of Elberton. Ashley blew us away with Martina McBride's Anyway to get into the final two! Todd Kirby made you think Travis Tritt was in the house! The judges voted and they were one point apart. We almost had a tie!!! Todd Kirby scored one point higher than Ashley with a standing ovation from the crowd and walked away with the title of Elberton Idol and $500.00!!! Great job to everyone, it was awesome and we saw some amazing talent!!!! Congratulations to everyone that participated this year!
